I submitted a sci-fi short story today–to a pro market. This was after I decided to apply to Viable Paradise : The Fantasy and Science Fiction Writers’ Workshop. It’s one thing to say I’m a writer; it’s quite another to do writerly things in public where others might give me validation and encouragement for crafting speculative tales.
For as long as I’ve been writing, I’ve done so for my pleasure. Although I have a tale to tell, as yet it’s been read by nobody beyond my close circle of beta readers. Some of them don’t usually read science fiction. But, it’s time–time for the rubber to meet the road.
So I’m planning and plotting, and this funny thing is happening in my head. I’m going about this as though it’s really going to happen. Somehow, I’m determined that today’s fantasies are going to become future realities.
